Phases & Timeline
While the departure from campus in March was both broad and immediate, the return for students, faculty, and staff will be phased in over time to ensure the safest possible environment for the Duke community.
During the spring and summer, Duke has taken a measured approach to expand operations and activities on campus in four phases listed below. Our expectation is that we will continue to slowly expand the operation and staffing on campus as we approach the fall semester, however those plans are subject to change as we continue to closely monitor the impact of the pandemic locally. We will follow the advice of public health officials and medical experts as we refine and implement these plans and will actively communicate about the timelines as well as the new guidelines and protocols that will be in place for all members of the Duke community who wish to be on campus.
Phase 1 – March – May 2020
